Hamilton Mountain and Waterfall Hike

My son David Johnson and I hiked up Hamilton Mountain to the magnificent waterfalls. This was on June 2, 2013. The weather was just perfect. This was a pretty steep uphill climb so it was about my limit. Well worth the trouble for sure. Hamilton Mountain is on the North side of the Columbia Gorge, about 53 mile from Woodland, quite close to Beacon Rock. What a beautiful place. Click here for more pictures.

What I liked best about this hike was the beautiful trees and the views of Mt. St. Helens. Some of the trees appear to be 300 years old or more....Click here for more pictures and info.

It was a beautiful sunny day for this hike. We saw some early blooming wild flowers. We encountered old roads of interest. There was a nice turnout with a great view of the Upper Columbia River Gorge. I acted as shepherd on this hike. The shepherds job is to make sure that no one falls behind the group and gets lost. Rene Tkatch was the leader on this hike. John Harrison author of "A Woman Alone" a historical narrative of one of Sam Hill's mistresses, Mona Bell, gave a lecture about Bell in the parking lot just below Bell's old home. The hike was a loop up to Munra Point and back. We came back along Eagle Creek. Click here for more pictures.
